The National Alliance, the Union of Greens and Farmers (UGF), and the 'United List' (UL) have conceptually agreed on cooperation in forming a new government, the head of the National Alliance Ilze Indriksones told the LETA agency on Thursday.
According to her, on Friday each party will present its vision to President Edgars Rinkēvičs.
It has already been reported that Prime Minister Evika Siliņa ('New Unity') decided to resign, and the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (CPCB) on Thursday morning detained Minister of Agriculture Armands Krauze (Union of Greens and Farmers) and Head of the State Chancellery Raivis Kronbergs at the request of the Prosecutor's Office.
Indriksones added that after the meeting with the president, the parties will invite 'New Unity' for negotiations and will then look further. 'The decision on who will be nominated [for the position of head of government] rests with the president,' said Indriksones.
The parties see 'New Unity' as a partner. 'Whether it will be the whole party or part of it, we do not yet know what their position is at the moment,' said Indriksones, expressing hope that 'New Unity' will be ready to participate.
The politician pointed out that the National Alliance does not consider 'Progressives' and the party 'Latvia First' as partners.
