Such a thing has never happened in Latvian politics! Andris Sprūds decided on Sunday evening, specifically at 19:00, to hold an urgent press conference, which he announced 50 minutes before the event. And 10 minutes before the press conference, at which Sprūds planned to announce his resignation, Prime Minister Evika Siliņa announced that... she had decided to dismiss Sprūds! The question arises: what came first - Sprūds' decision to voluntarily leave his post or the Prime Minister's decision to dismiss him?!
Today at the press conference, Andris Sprūds, unusually angry, accused Evika Siliņa of lying. According to the Minister of Defense, the Prime Minister is lying when she claims that she informed him and the “Progressives” party about her intention to dismiss the Minister of Defense.

Sprūds stated that he decided to resign in order not to jeopardize the National Armed Forces, which came under a wave of unfounded criticism after several drones arrived in Latgale.
