Russia threatens Latvia with a 'response' for drone flights, but does not specify what kind

Moscow issued a 'special warning' to the Baltic countries for 'deciding to open the skies for the flight of Ukrainian UAVs during attacks on the Russian Federation,' said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.

She said that Russia will 'respond' to the Baltic countries if they do not heed its warning.

It should be noted that the Baltic countries deny that the drones flew over their territory.

Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Finland understand that Russian aggression against Ukraine has led to Ukrainian attacks on Russian ports in Ust-Luga and Primorsk. According to Ukrainian media, this was stated by the spokesperson of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Georgiy Tikhiy.

As Tikhiy noted, Ukraine has conducted sufficiently detailed negotiations with the Baltic countries and Finland regarding instances of Ukrainian drones appearing in their airspace.

"We have been quite open: indeed, these are Ukrainian drones, and we apologize officially for what happened, that we in no way directed our drones in that direction," Tikhiy emphasized.

Moreover, as the spokesperson noted, Foreign Minister Andrey Sibiga revealed intelligence data indicating that Russia is deliberately redirecting Ukrainian drones, launched at Russian military targets, towards the Baltic countries.

Tikhiy added that the Russians reinforce such deliberate actions with disinformation and propaganda, and are trying to deliberately incite fear among the people in the Baltic countries.

He stressed: "These countries do not need to be frightened; they understand the threats perfectly well, they are on our side. Moreover, I will tell you, there were negotiations between the minister and the Balts, and they clearly say: 'We all understand that the cause is Russian aggression. We do not blame you, but let’s look for ways to avoid such incidents, what can be done.'
