While the war unleashed by Russia continues in Ukraine, residents of Latvia must be prepared for various incidents, said Prime Minister Evika Silina at a joint press conference with President Edgars Rinkēvičs.
"There is a war in Ukraine, and Russia is carrying out massive attacks while Ukraine is defending itself. We must also be ready to respond to such situations, primarily by protecting our citizens. We have learned lessons, and that is good," said Silina at a press conference.
The Prime Minister stated that she expects a report from the Minister of Defense regarding the incident. "We will think about further decisions to better protect our airspace," said Silina.
As reported, last night a drone entered Latvian airspace from Russia and exploded near the center of the Svariņi parish in the Kraslava region at 2:39. Another drone briefly entered Latvian territory from Belarus and headed towards Russia.
