The State Security Service continues to review requests for the continued employment of individual citizens of Russia and Belarus at critical infrastructure facilities.
According to the results of the checks, no permits have been issued to any of them for access to information and technological equipment important for the functioning of critical infrastructure, the LETA agency was informed by the State Security Service.
Currently, the verification of several citizens of Russia and Belarus working in four commercial organizations important for national security - two hospitals and two joint-stock companies - is ongoing.
The State Security Service previously noted that for a permit to be issued, justification from the owner or manager of the critical infrastructure facility is required, explaining why a specific citizen of Russia or Belarus cannot be replaced by another specialist and why they need access to information or equipment important for the functioning of the facility.
According to the national security law, in exceptional cases, the employment of a citizen of Russia or Belarus at a critical infrastructure facility with access to important information or equipment is allowed only with a separate permit from the state security authority.
Such an exception is applied only when it is impossible to ensure the operation of the facility in any other way, for example, if the person possesses unique knowledge or skills and cannot be replaced by another specialist. A general shortage of specialists or high costs for attracting them are not considered sufficient grounds for issuing a permit.
