The candidate for prime minister from the 'Latvia First' party spoke in a video interview with the bb.lv portal about the dramatic situation our country is in and who can lead it out of the prolonged crisis.
I will say frankly: only if I become prime minister will Latvia have a chance for salvation, for development. Today's government has quickly driven the country into a debt pit; we are currently paying half a billion annually just in interest on debts, and if this continues, in a few years we will be paying 1 billion a year just to service the debt!
The country has no strategic development plan today; the only strategy is to close the ports and dismantle the railway, thereby destroying the transit sector! If I come to power, I will not allow this! I will start developing our Latvia, attracting investments, and uniting society! We are all Latvians, Russians, Poles, Jews, Ukrainians — residents of this country; we are already few and need to unite, not divide society. Only I can unite all Latvians!” - Ainars Slesers is convinced.
