Europe must immediately provide credit to support Ukraine and urgently adopt the 20th package against Russia, stated the parliamentary secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Latvia, Artyom Urshulskis, who participated in the EU Council meeting on general affairs on Tuesday.
During the discussion on preparations for the European Council, the parliamentary secretary of the Foreign Ministry emphasized that Latvia condemns Iran's unprovoked attacks on its neighbors. At the same time, he added that in addressing new challenges, support for Ukraine should not be forgotten.
Urshulskis noted that there is a connection between the Middle East and discussions about competitiveness, particularly regarding energy. Latvia supports the introduction of short-term measures to mitigate the impact of sharp price increases on the EU economy, but in the long term, it is necessary to strengthen the EU's energy security through the development of energy independence.
