Saeima deputies receive their salaries from the state budget. Like other public officials, their remuneration is regulated by the law on the remuneration of officials and employees of state and municipal institutions. The salary of parliamentarians is automatically reviewed every year in accordance with changes in the average salary and inflation in the country.
Deputies may receive an additional part of their remuneration for holding certain positions — for example, in the Presidium of the Saeima, factions, committees, and subcommittees.
The monthly salary of a Saeima deputy in 2026 is €4330 before taxes.
Deputies do not receive additional payments for participating in Saeima and committee meetings, delegations, or deputy groups. They also do not receive bonuses.
Parliamentarians are reimbursed for expenses related to the performance of their deputy duties. They may receive compensation for housing rent and transportation costs. The compensation system is designed so that deputies elected from more remote regions are on equal footing with deputies from Riga.
The maximum allowable amount of compensation depends on the deputy's place of residence: the closer they live to Riga, the lower the possible compensation amount.
