Today, the Saeima will hold the open day of parliamentary committees for the third time, the Saeima press service informed the LETA agency.
Representatives of the public will participate in the meetings of the Saeima committees, and in the afternoon, a meeting with the presidium of the Saeima and the chairpersons of the committees is scheduled.
Deputies and representatives of civil society will discuss pressing issues regarding the development of society and the state, including reducing bureaucracy, economic resilience in the age of technology, the role of volunteering and local communities, consumer rights protection in the European Union, and promoting youth civic participation.
The public participation platform "Manabalss.lv", citizen involvement in planning public funding at the national and EU levels, and the role of non-governmental organizations in cultural processes will also be discussed.
The open day in the committees, initiated two years ago by the Saeima in cooperation with non-governmental partners, has become a platform for direct dialogue between the parliament and civil society. It demonstrates the parliament's openness to dialogue and emphasizes the importance of civil society for the democratic and sustainable development of the state, the press service reported.
