During the Christmas season, everyone should think about what more can be done to help others, urged Senior Expert on International Military-Religious Cooperation of the National Armed Forces (NVS) Elmars Pļaviņš in an interview on the program "900 Seconds" on TV3, LETA reports.
Pļaviņš stated that soldiers and civilians in Ukraine are, first of all, very tired of missile attacks, power outages, and the lack of items that are everyday necessities for us. Secondly, they constantly face death. Thirdly, they experience uncertainty and stress.
Nevertheless, according to him, the Ukrainian military is determined to fight and has no intention of giving up any inch of land.
The NVS expert noted that while in Ukraine, he tries to support and inspire, but often it is the Ukrainians who inspire others the most.
"They say: don’t worry, we are fighting for you too," said Pļaviņš.
He noted that the Ukrainian people have become significantly more united and cohesive.
This Christmas, he urged everyone to think about what more can be done to help others. "Each of us has talents and abilities that we can use to be helpful to others," he emphasized, noting that this is not always about material things—sometimes it is a kind word, presence, or the ability to say 'thank you.'
Pļaviņš also wished everyone to be able to stop, calm down, forgive their enemies, and "conduct a little self-audit" to move forward with new strength and inspiration in the new year.
