Inara Murniece on EU migration policy.
Inara Murniece, the chair of the Saeima Foreign Affairs Commission, reminded in an interview with TV-24 that her party - the National Alliance - has always been against the "principle of solidarity," under which all EU countries must accept migrants (refugees) within the quotas. If a country refuses, it must pay 20,000 euros for each migrant not accepted.
"Recently, a decision was made in Brussels that an exception will be made for several countries - they will not be required to accept migrants or pay. It is clear why such an exception was made for Poland: this country has accepted a huge number of refugees from Ukraine, and moreover, it suffers from hybrid attacks from Belarus. But why was such an exception made for Estonia, while it was not made for Latvia and Lithuania?!" the deputy wonders. She believes that the Minister of the Interior of Latvia, R. Kozlovskis, was quite active on this issue in Brussels.
