Former politician and ex-Minister of the Interior Maris Gulbis addressed the issue of internal security in an interview with TV-24. He reminded that there are many Russian speakers in Latvia, "whom Russia can easily influence."
"If in the Czech Republic they believe they may have between 400 and 500 'sleeping' agents of Russia, then in Latvia, this number may be much higher!" the former politician believes. He expressed a desire for Latvian intelligence agents to infiltrate Russian special services and inform Latvian special services in advance about crimes being prepared against us. "This is how the Americans acted in their time, infiltrating Soviet special services," stated the former Foreign Minister.
