On Monday, the international 'Expo' exhibition, which took place over six months in the Japanese city of Osaka, concluded. Latvia and Lithuania participated with a unified Baltic pavilion. "This is the most successful participation of Latvia in 'Expo' to date," stated the general commissioner of the Baltic pavilion, Lasma Lidaka, in an interview for the '900 seconds' program (TV3).
In six months, nearly a million people visited the pavilions of Latvia and Lithuania.
"This is a way to increase recognition. Japan is an important partner for cooperation, and this cooperation needs to be developed. 'Expo' is a place where we can present our country," added Lidaka.
International 'Expo' exhibitions are held every five years, and this time it was hosted by the Japanese city of Osaka. The exhibition area itself is impressive – the pavilions of all countries were located on an artificial island covering 155 hectares in Osaka Bay. The central feature was a circular structure 2 kilometers long – currently the largest wooden structure in the world.
