Part of the parliamentary body will remain in Riga to debate the Istanbul Convention, while a couple of dozen public servants will visit the Liepaja prison, where they will hold a meeting.
Next week, members of the legal commission of the Saeima, as well as the subcommissions on criminal law and sentencing policy, and on the Constitution, will travel to Liepaja to visit the local prison.
Meanwhile, members of the Saeima's foreign affairs commission will continue discussions next Wednesday on a very hot initiative - Latvia's withdrawal from the Istanbul Convention.
Additionally, deputies working in the commission on public administration and local government affairs are expected to complete their work on important amendments to the Law on Housing Property. The bill is needed to address existing problems in apartment buildings regarding the restoration of residential houses, strengthening the community of apartment owners as full-fledged legal entities participating in civil legal transactions, including the ability to obtain loans from credit institutions, as well as reducing the bureaucratic burden on residents.
The subcommittee on public health will discuss the plan prepared by the Ministry of Health to improve cardiovascular health - Latvia is one of the leaders in the EU in mortality from cardiovascular diseases.
