The Government Will Discuss the Budget Draft with Trade Unions and Employers

Prime Minister Evika Silina will hold a meeting of the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation (NSTC) on Friday, October 10, during which the state budget draft for the next year will be discussed.

On October 3, a meeting of the NSTC subcommittee on budget and taxes took place, after which the Latvian Confederation of Employers issued a statement expressing that it does not support the current policy of state budget development and the budget draft itself, as the government did not take into account the recommendations of social partners and did not ensure social dialogue.

The NSTC is a body of tripartite social dialogue, which includes representatives from the government, the Latvian Confederation of Employers, and the Latvian Free Trade Union Confederation.

As reported, the government plans to approve the state budget draft for 2026 on October 14, and the budget package will be submitted to the Saeima on October 15.
