The Ministry of Defense has prepared a draft government decision to redistribute 70 million euros for military support to Ukraine, LETA reports.
The funding is planned to be redistributed from the "State Defense and Security Fund" program to the Ministry of Defense's budget subprogram "Maintenance of the National Armed Forces."
As previously reported, in 2025, the volume of military aid from Latvia to Ukraine is expected to reach 0.3% of the gross domestic product (GDP), while this year the support is planned at 0.25% of GDP.
This year, Latvia will continue to support Ukraine by purchasing products from the Latvian military industry, leading a coalition of drones within the Ukraine Support Group, training Ukrainian military personnel, transferring equipment from the National Armed Forces, and contributing to international support initiatives, as well as continuing to provide various types of assistance to Ukraine's efforts to join the European Union and NATO.
