Valery Syutkin is selling a three-room apartment on Sretensky Boulevard—232 square meters in a historic 19th-century building. The price is approximately 6 million euros.
"I have no information about the sale. I cannot confirm it," said the artist's director Alexander Shobolov to journalists.
Meanwhile, the advertisement for the sale has been up for almost a year. It concerns a property that has been owned by Syutkin for more than five years, but recently it has been idle as the owner travels a lot. Inside the apartment, there are three bedrooms, a fireplace, a balcony, designer renovations, as well as antique and vintage furniture that the singer has been collecting in France for years. This includes a table belonging to Napoleon, about which legends circulate.
The fate of the latter will be decided separately: if a buyer willing to pay a good price is found, the rarity will also go to the new owner.
Art historian and lawyer Yulia Verbitskaya-Linnik noted that items with history—such as the table from the Napoleonic era—are valued among collectors. They can fetch astronomical prices, commensurate with the worth and significance of the person to whom they belonged.
The expert also pointed out that a surge in demand always generates a huge number of fakes, as there are hundreds of thousands of items from the Napoleonic era, while only a few hundred artifacts are directly associated with the emperor, most of which are owned by France, stored in museums and castles, and their export outside the republic is strictly prohibited.
"Does this antique item—a table from the 1810s, made in the Empire style—have value? Of course, it does, and quite significant. However, it should be remembered that 'Napoleon's table' is more of a figure of speech than an unconditional proof of belonging to the great Corsican," emphasized Verbitskaya-Linnik.
Latvian Cottage
Returning to Syutkin's property, it is worth mentioning that he has a place to live in our country as well. His wife and mother-in-law are from Latvia.
The house of Valery Syutkin and his wife Viola is located in Jurmala, where starting prices for housing are from 120,000 euros. The couple traditionally spends several summer months in Jurmala.
