The Estonian startup "Frankenburg Technologies", producing anti-drone missiles "Mark I" and "Mark II", has opened its first production facility in the Baltic region - a plant for the assembly of weapon systems and missiles in Riga.
The Riga plant will be involved in the production of guided surface-to-air missile systems "Mark I", including the assembly of missile electronics and weapon systems, as well as testing and quality control of the finished products.
The opening ceremony was attended by European Commissioner for Defense and Space Andrius Kubilius.
The construction of the Riga plant took a year, and together with the planned final assembly plant in Adaži, the total production capacity is expected to reach 100 missiles per day by the end of the year.
The area of the Riga plant is nearly 1,000 square meters, and it is planned to employ 50 people.
This year, "Frankenburg Technologies" plans to produce 1,500 missiles.
It is expected that the cost of intercepting drones using "Mark I" missiles will decrease by more than ten times and will enable mass production of guided surface-to-air missiles to supply Europe and other allies.
After launching production in Latvia, "Frankenburg Technologies" plans to expand it to Estonia, the United Kingdom, and Poland, aiming for a production volume of 1 million missiles per year, which is greatly needed by Europe, stated the company's leader Kusti Salm.
"Europe must be able to transition from limited and expensive production to affordable systems that are produced in large quantities. The activities of 'Frankenburg' in Riga are an example of the industrial goals and new thinking that Europe needs to strengthen its defense readiness," emphasized Kubilius.
It is known that the subsidiary of the Estonian company LLC "Frankenburg Technologies" was registered in October 2024, with a share capital of 3,800 euros. The owner of the company is the Estonian enterprise "Frankenburg Technologies". The executive director of "Frankenburg Technologies" is the former Chancellor of the Ministry of Defense of Estonia Salm.
The true beneficiary of the company is co-founder and CEO of the ultra-capacitor manufacturer and energy storage solutions provider "Skeleton Technologies" Taavi Madiberg.
