The water temperature in rivers, lakes, and the sea on Friday morning is between 14-19 degrees, according to data from the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
In the ports of Liepaja, Ventspils, Salacgriva, and Skulte, the water temperature is around 17 degrees, in Daugavgriva it is one degree lower, and on the Kurzeme coast of the Gulf of Riga, it is about 14 degrees.
According to local governments, the water temperature at official sea beaches in Liepaja, Ventspils, Jurmala, Riga, and Saulkrasti was around 15 degrees on Thursday.
In lakes and reservoirs, the water temperature averages 17-18 degrees.
The water temperature in the largest rivers is 16-19 degrees, in smaller rivers about 15 degrees.
Hydrologists predict that in the coming days, the water level in rivers will mostly decrease. With the warming weather, the water in bodies of water will warm up faster.
