From June 4 to June 6, Madona will celebrate its 100th anniversary since gaining city status. The program includes concerts, sports competitions, fairs, a street food festival, and performances by famous Latvian musicians.

Madona is preparing for one of the largest celebrations in recent years. In the coming days, the city will mark its centenary with a rich program for residents and guests.

The anniversary events will take place from June 4 to June 6 and will cover almost the entire city center. The organizers have prepared dozens of events — from concerts and theatrical performances to sports competitions, exhibitions, fairs, and gastronomic events.

The celebration will kick off on Thursday with outdoor exhibitions, a virtual quest, and a friendly football match. In the evening, a concert by children's and youth song and dance groups titled "My Roots" will take place on the city stage.

On Friday, the program will continue with basketball matches, a book presentation, and concerts. The highlight of the evening will be a festive show in Sayeta Square called "Happy 100th, Madona!" After the concert, guests can enjoy Zalumballe with the Madona brass band.

Saturday promises to be the most eventful day. From early morning, the city will host a crafts and local producers fair, performance venues for creative groups, workshops for children, and sports competitions.

Throughout the weekend, a street food festival will operate in Sayeta Square, becoming one of the central attractions for festival guests.

The culmination of the anniversary will be a grand evening concert on the main stage of the city. Performers will include Intars Busulis and "Abonementa orķestris", the group "Pienvedēja piedzīvojumi", Ozols, YŪT, and DJ DOT. The concert program will last until two in the morning.

For those planning a trip to Madona, it is important to note that there will be traffic restrictions in the city center during the festive days. Access will be temporarily closed on certain streets.

The anniversary is linked to an important date in the city's history. Although the development of Madona as an administrative center began earlier, it officially received city status on June 7, 1926, by a decision of the Saeima.

Over the past hundred years, the small settlement has transformed into one of the main centers of Vidzeme, and this celebration will be the largest event of the anniversary year.
