In collaboration with the technology company SIA 'Tilde', the Riga municipality has implemented an AI-based assistant for lessons in two schools, reported the external communication department of the Riga City Council.

The new solution will provide real-time transcription of the teacher's speech during lessons, as well as the preparation of lesson notes and control questions.

This will help students better perceive and review the educational material and will serve as special support for children with various learning needs.

"Language technologies of artificial intelligence make educational material more accessible for every student. They help overcome barriers created by language difficulties, perception challenges, and learning issues. For 'Tilde', this pilot project is an important step towards making artificial intelligence in schools a safe, practical tool for strengthening inclusive education for teachers and students," said Kaspars Kauliņš, the head of international business development at 'Tilde' and the project's idea author.

The pilot project will be implemented in three phases by the end of 2026 at Riga's 75th primary school and Riga's 1st primary school - a development center.

The goal of the pilot project is to develop an inclusive, personalized, and technology-supported learning process while simultaneously strengthening the quality management of education.

"By combining the experience of local government with the innovative competence of technology companies, a higher quality and more accessible learning environment can be created," emphasized Ivars Balamovskis, director of the education, culture, and sports department of the Riga municipality.
