May 4 in Latvia - a holiday that can bring problems. Here’s what to expect

During the holiday days in May, many traditionally plan to dedicate their time to rest, trips out of town, or meetings with loved ones. However, fraudsters perceive this period differently: they increase their activity and try to lull people's vigilance.

The risk of becoming a victim of fraudsters is high during these days. There is at least one topic:

“Holiday Payments”

Right now, fraudsters may and will, as they have in the past, call or send messages via messengers on behalf of employees of various Latvian agencies, congratulating you not only on the holiday but also assuring you of an additional payment due for May 4!

It is important to remember that during a holiday, people are more likely to believe in miracles. May it happen to you, but it is also important to be aware of the signs of deception:

Signs of Deception:

They ask you to enter your bank card details or passport information.
They may demand a transfer of a "small amount" for "processing the payment" — supposedly for tax or state duty payment.
Pressure for urgency: "If you don’t confirm within an hour — unfortunately, everything will be lost, as this is a holiday payment."

Stay vigilant! And have a peaceful weekend!
