Trams and Gymnastics in Riga Are Free: It's Just a Shame It's Not Always and for Everyone

On Latvia's Restoration of Independence Day, May 4, all public transport in Riga will be free, reported the municipal enterprise Rīgas satiksme.

From May 1 to May 4, transportation will operate on a weekend schedule.

On Friday, May 1, and Monday, May 4, city parking will also be free — except for the underground parking at K. Valdemara Street 5A near the Congress House: there, the rates will remain the same.

Sports Activities

The Welfare Department of the Riga Municipality invites applications for FREE gymnastics classes for seniors.

The classes are designed for residents aged 55 and older and are specifically developed to strengthen the musculoskeletal system, as well as to improve coordination and balance.

Each lesson lasts 60 minutes. The maximum number of classes that one person can attend is 10 (ten).

These workouts are conducted in small groups of up to 15 people, under the guidance of a certified physiotherapist. During the classes, the specialist will not only monitor the correct execution of exercises according to each participant's capabilities but will also provide useful information about the load, as well as exercises suitable for different age groups. (This will allow participants to create their own exercise routine to practice at home).

Where and When Classes Are Held:

• "Pyramid" Clinic, Kalnciema Street 27, Riga - on Wednesdays at 10:30 AM and Fridays at 11:00 AM and 12:30 PM;

• "FuturaClinic", Terbatas Street 30, Riga: on Mondays at 12:00 PM, Wednesdays at 2:00 PM, and Fridays at 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM, and 1:30 PM.
