From May 5 to 15, military exercises of the mechanized infantry brigade of the land forces "Crystal Arrow 2026" and exercises of the multinational NATO brigade in Latvia "Spring Warrior" will take place, involving 4,700 servicemen, the National Armed Forces (NAF) reported to the LETA agency.
During the exercises "Crystal Arrow 2026," servicemen will improve planning and execution of operations at the brigade level, practicing full-scale defensive operations in conditions of conventional warfare in real terrain.
The training tasks will be carried out in conditions as close to the real situation as possible. Special attention will be paid to enhancing combat capabilities, synchronizing the actions of units, and integrating unmanned aerial systems. Units will also train observation skills, mutual integration of kinetic capabilities, and casualty evacuation operations in cooperation with the Emergency Medical Service.
The "Spring Warrior" exercises are conducted by the multinational NATO brigade in Latvia to practice unit cohesion during defensive operations. Within the framework of the exercises, the deployment of forces, logistics, command, and control will be improved across various territories throughout Latvia.
As emphasized by the National Armed Forces (NAF), these exercises will further enhance cooperation between the armed forces of NATO allies, the NAF, the National Guard, and local governments, strengthening the security and defense of Latvia.
Approximately 2,500 servicemen and 500 units of equipment from the mechanized infantry brigade of the land forces, the multinational NATO brigade in Latvia, the 1st Riga, 2nd Vidzeme, and 3rd Latgale brigades of the National Guard, as well as from the air force, military police, and logistics command will participate in the "Crystal Arrow 2026" exercises. More than 2,200 servicemen and about 300 units of various types of equipment will participate in the "Spring Warrior" exercises.
The exercises will take place at military training grounds in Ādaži and Sēli, as well as on the territories of the State Forests of Latvia and on certain civilian territories throughout Latvia, including in the regions of Aizkraukle, Jēkabpils, and Sigulda, near Gulbene, Rēzekne, Luzna, Jaunpiebalga, Alūksne, Madona, Preiļi, Vārkava, Līvāni, and Daugavpils. The exercises are also planned in the vicinity of Skrīveri, Zalve, Staburags, Odiņi, Selpils, Sece, Sunakste, Daudzeva, Jaunelgava, Viesīte, and Nereta.
During the exercises, the movement of military equipment and servicemen will be observed throughout Latvia, and unmanned aerial vehicles will also be used.
