The discussion about the payment to residents of the accumulated capital of the second pension level to cover treatment expenses will continue at the meeting of the council of the parties forming the government in a week, reported the head of the parliamentary faction of the Union of Greens and Farmers (SZK) Harijs Rokpelnis.
He noted that the issue is complex and has caused a wide resonance in society, so today at the meeting an agreement was reached that coalition partners need additional time to familiarize themselves with the proposal submitted by the Union of Greens and Farmers (SZK).
"In a week, we will continue negotiations in the coalition to find a common denominator," emphasized Rokpelnis.
As reported, proposals for the payment to the population to cover medical expenses from the capital accumulated in the second pension level have been submitted for consideration at the meeting of the cooperation council of the parties forming the government.
Currently, the accumulated pension capital can only be used for the appointment of an old-age pension or in the event of the participant's death.
Many believe that under conditions where the healthcare system is not in order and has significant shortcomings, where people cannot receive the necessary medical assistance in a timely manner or purchase prescribed medications, it is necessary to discuss the issue of using the capital accumulated in the second pension level for medically justified treatment.
It is assumed that the Cabinet of Ministers may establish diagnoses and other criteria to justify the application for the withdrawal of funds from the second-level pension savings.
