32 new electric trains Vivi will have names — and all of them will be related to the forest.
Passengers will also be shown where the rest areas are located near the train stops.
An interesting initiative to name trains and provide a map of routes with nearby rest areas will be presented on Wednesday, April 29. The maps will be placed in the train cars.
As noted by the organizers of the initiative, in many countries, trains are named after regions, cities, or famous people. The main wealth of Latvia is its forests, so the electric trains will receive corresponding names.
The official opening of the project will take place on Wednesday at 1:00 PM at the platform of the Riga Central Station, at track 1. It will be attended by Minister of Transport Aitis Švinkas, head of the European Commission representation in Latvia Andris Kužnieks, chairman of the board of Pasažieru vilciens Raitis Nešpors, and director of the recreation and environmental business direction of Latvijas valsts meži Ieva Sipola.
