In one of the Latvian online broadcasts from the eagle owl nest, a long-awaited event occurred last night — the first chick hatched.
This is about the nest of the eagle owl (Bubo bubo), which can be observed live thanks to the Latvian Nature Fund project. The camera is set up in the forest within the territory of 'Rīgas meži', where these rare and cautious birds nest in their natural habitat.
The chick appeared at night, and it spends its first hours of life under the watchful eye of the female. The footage shows the adult eagle owl carefully guarding its offspring and sheltering it from the cold.

Live broadcasts from bird nests have attracted the attention of viewers for many years: millions of people around the world watch them every year.
Now viewers will be able to observe the chick's growth — in the coming weeks, it will quickly gain weight and gradually become covered in feathers before leaving the nest for the first time.
The Latvian Nature Fund is the largest environmental non-governmental organization in Latvia, whose mission is to preserve and restore the country's biological diversity. To achieve this, the fund engages in practical nature conservation and educating the public about the importance of biodiversity. Since 2012, the fund has been providing live broadcasts from the nests of protected birds in Latvia.
