In May, Europe Day will be celebrated with various events in Latvia and other European countries, reported Liāna Valdmane, a representative of the "Movement for Europe in Latvia."
This year, residents of Latvia will be able to participate in the European Exam for the 12th time, which will take place from May 7 to 8. Participants will be able to answer questions about the European Union (EU), its history, values, the opportunities that Latvia's membership in the EU opens up, and current events in sports, music, and culture online. Last year, nearly 44,000 people participated in the European Exam.
The European Exam can be taken individually and at a convenient time. There are questions for each age group. The exam consists of 20 questions, and for students in grades 1-3, it consists of ten questions. Each participant will receive a confirmation of participation in the exam and their result via email. As part of the European Exam, prizes will be awarded to the best participants in each age group, as well as to the most active schools and classes in Latvia.
On May 9, various events organized by the European Commission (EC) representation in Latvia and the Riga City Council, as well as the embassies of EU member states in Latvia, ministries, and other partners, will take place throughout the day in Verman Garden. At the event, attendees will be able to learn about the culture and initiatives of different European countries and find out more about the opportunities offered by the EU.
Events in honor of Europe Day will also take place in other cities in Latvia.
