What do Ukrainians work as most often in Latvia?

At the beginning of this year, 10,500 Ukrainian citizens were registered in Latvia as workers with temporary protection status, which is 1,200 more than at the beginning of 2025, the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) reported to the LETA agency.

Most Ukrainians work in industry - 22.2%, in finance, insurance, science, administrative services, and real estate - 12.9%, in accommodation and food services - 12.1%, in wholesale and retail trade - 10.7%, in construction - 10.1%.

The Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) notes that 37.4% of working Ukrainians are employed in simple professions, such as office, hotel, and other premises cleaners, kitchen workers, loaders, and others. At the same time, 16.1% are skilled workers and craftsmen, 11.6% are service and sales workers, 10.1% are operators of installations, machines, and assemblers, and 1.1% are managers.

According to the CSB, just over 4,000 Ukrainian citizens are registered and continue their education in Latvian educational institutions.

As of the beginning of 2026, about 3,800 children were registered in Latvian preschool and general education institutions, about 200 students in vocational education institutions, and just over 200 students in higher education institutions - Ukrainian citizens with temporary protection status in Latvia.
