At the end of last year, 44,466 out of 214,283 adults with disabilities in Latvia had motor function impairments, according to data from the State Medical Commission for Health and Working Capacity Expertise.
At the same time, 31,525 people were recognized as disabled due to mental and behavioral disorders, 11,965 people had visual impairments, and 2,802 had hearing impairments.
126,143 adults were assigned disability due to other disorders or the type of disorder was not specified.
According to the adopted rules, the first group of disability is assigned if the disability is very severe and the loss of working capacity is between 80% and 100%, the second group is assigned if the disability is severe and the loss of working capacity is between 60% and 79%, and the third group of disability is assigned if the disability is moderate and the loss of working capacity is between 25% and 59%.
