In Kraslava, a disturbing message about alleged attempts of child abduction began to actively spread among residents yesterday, reported the regional portal grani.lv.
The forwarded text claims that someone attempted to lure minors into a car near a school and the Maxima store, urging parents not to leave their children alone and to be especially vigilant.
The information quickly spread through messaging apps and caused serious concern among residents.
On the same day, a message was published on the Facebook profile of the Kraslava municipal government: "Today, information was received about possible violence by an individual against minors in Kraslava. The municipal police of Kraslava detained the suspect and handed him over to the State Police for further investigation of the circumstances."
The police also provided their comment regarding these reports:
"Employees of the South Latgale division of the Latgale regional administration of the State Police received information that two minors sought help in one of the stores in Kraslava.
According to initial data, the driver of a 'Renault' car approached the two minors and possibly offered them a ride. It is known that the children left the scene and ran into the store.
Law enforcement responded quickly to the received information and arrived at the specified address. Police officers contacted the parents of the minors and took them home.
During the investigation, the vehicle involved in the incident and the identity of its driver were established. Law enforcement agencies continue to clarify all the circumstances of the incident."
