Increased attention to the Rail Baltica railway project in Latvia is not beneficial, stated Latvian Prime Minister Evika Silina at a joint press conference of the Baltic states' prime ministers in Tallinn.
She noted that the project is actively discussed in Latvia and is receiving significant attention, including the establishment of a parliamentary investigative commission in the Saeima. "In politics, everyone fights for attention. I don’t think this is good for the project," said the Prime Minister.
During a meeting with Baltic colleagues, the lack of funding for Rail Baltica was discussed, as well as the need for coordination among all three prime ministers to find financial resources.
As Silina pointed out, if the planned funding for the project can be secured in the next multiannual budget of the European Union, it would be very good.
