Professor Leons Taiwans on what a demographic crisis and the arrival of migrants (guest workers) in the country may lead to.
Professor Leons Taiwans noted in a discussion on TV-24 that Latvia was fortunate in the early 90s: despite the fact that the number of non-Latvians had nearly equaled the number of Latvians, independence was still restored. "Now we are faced with a new challenge - our demographic situation is unfavorable, and nature does not tolerate a vacuum. If migrants flood in, it will no longer be Latvia, and we may not survive another wave of migration," the professor warned.
