It Became Known How the Updated Tower at Zakusala Will Look (Photo) 0 14

Currently, the procurement competition for construction works is ongoing, however, it is expected that in just over three years, the tower at Zakusala will be reopened to visitors, reports the program "900 Seconds" (TV3).

The winner of the competition was the team from the Vincents group of companies. Their developed concept best meets the requirements of the Latvian State Radio and Television Centre (LVRTC).

A representative of the winners noted that a professional and passionate team worked on the project. "This is a very iconic object in Latvia and the Baltic States, so we enthusiastically engaged in the work and invested all the best we could," said Alvis Amantov, a board member of the Vincents group of companies.

He mentioned that the tower will feature glass observation balconies from which visitors can use binoculars to view important landmarks in the panorama of Riga.

On the first floor, visitors will be able to learn about the history of the tower. As they ascend, they will be able to visit several observation platforms. The first will be equipped with six cubes that visitors can enter to enjoy the surrounding view.

Higher up, there will be an open observation deck where visitors can feel the wind, and the bravest can walk along the edge of the platform at a height of over 200 meters.

The modernization project also includes the placement of facilities for LVRTC staff within the tower. Architect Sergey Nikiforov noted that this is an important part of the overall concept.

"It is important that tourists do not come here as if to a deserted island. All the client's services will move here, and this is necessary for life to thrive here. Thus, the presence of people will return to Zakusala, which is extremely important. There cannot be an empty space in the very center of the city," emphasized Nikiforov.

Currently, the procurement of construction works is ongoing. The radio and television center team expects the successful completion of the competition. After that, it is planned that within three years, the tower will be open to visitors.
