It's a Record! 22,000 People Visited the Riga Zoo on Wednesday

On April 1, 22,000 people visited the Riga National Zoo, setting a record for attendance in one day, the zoo reported to the LETA agency.

On Wednesday, the Riga Zoo held a promotion where tickets cost only one euro.

The zoo notes that many visitors were there for the first time. This confirms that interest in the zoo is broader than what is visible in everyday life, and the promotion provided an opportunity for thousands of people to see giraffes, tigers, flamingos, and other animals in person for the first time, according to representatives of the institution.

At the same time, the zoo acknowledges that such a large number of visitors created certain difficulties — in some areas, crowds formed, and some animals preferred to stay indoors due to the noise.

The zoo also reported that many visitors had their white bread confiscated, which they were attempting to feed to the animals. The zoo reminds that the animals receive a complete diet and do not require additional feeding.

The Riga Zoo team intends to continue analyzing the event and the experience gained — both in terms of infrastructure capacity and managing visitor flows and overall quality of the visit.
