Shelters Will Not Appear Everywhere: Why Covering Remains a Luxury

The arrangement of approved shelters at 30 public transport stops for the first lot requires 301 thousand euros; the arrangement of shelters at 29 stops for the second lot requires 306 thousand euros.

The cost varies depending on how far the electrical networks are located and what construction work needs to be done – there are stops where two shelters will be installed due to a high number of passengers, while others will have only one shelter planned.

Of course, you cannot cover all the stops in the city – Riga has about 1500 public transport stops. A shelter is a temporary structure with a usage period of five years. After that, they are deemed fit for use for another five years, or the question arises about dismantling and installing new structures.
