"The Inčukalns gas storage facility has significantly emptied due to the current cold winter, and this means that we will need to replenish gas supplies - already at high prices," warned economist and rector of the University of Latvia Gundars Berziņš in an interview with TV-24.
The rise in energy resource costs will also drive up the prices of other goods and services.
