It will be foggy on Wednesday; the day is getting longer than the night

On Wednesday, the sunniest and warmest weather in Latvia will remain in the eastern regions, where the air temperature may reach +12 degrees, forecasters predict, writes LETA.

In the first half of the day, there will still be fog in many places across the country, later it may occur in some areas along the coast. No significant precipitation is expected.

A light wind will blow. In many areas of the western and central parts of the country, the air temperature will not exceed +3 to +8 degrees.

In Riga, the fog will dissipate during the day, a light wind will blow, and the air will warm up to +7 degrees.

Weather conditions are determined by an anticyclone. Atmospheric pressure has risen to 1031–1033 hectopascals at sea level.

The day is getting longer than the night

Since March 18, the duration of the day in Latvia has exceeded the duration of the night, according to information on the website "timeanddate.com," writes LETA.

On Wednesday in Riga, the sun rose at 6:31 and will set at 18:32 — the duration of the day is 12 hours and one and a half minutes. Each subsequent day will become longer by almost five minutes.

The equinox and the beginning of astronomical spring will occur on March 20 at 16:46. The day becomes longer than the night a few days earlier, as the moment of sunrise and sunset is considered when the upper edge of the solar disk appears or disappears above the horizon, rather than its center. The duration of sunshine also depends on the refraction of light in the atmosphere.

The spring equinox is the moment when the center of the solar disk crosses the celestial equator and moves into the northern hemisphere of the celestial sphere.

Astronomical spring will last until the summer solstice, which will occur on June 21 at 11:24.

Meteorological spring this year began on February 27. Meteorological summer will start when the average daily air temperature reaches at least +15 degrees for five consecutive days.

Solar spring this year began on February 5. The brightest quarter of the year, or solar summer, will last from May 7 to August 5.
