Riga paid more than 70 million for subsidized trips in Rīgas satiksme for 60% of passengers; the company's profit is growing

The municipal company Rīgas satiksme transported 118.49 million passengers last year, which is 2.2% more than the previous year, according to information published by the enterprise.

The management's message in the company's financial report notes that the increase in the number of passengers confirms the importance of public transport for urban mobility and simultaneously emphasizes the need for further investments in infrastructure development and service quality improvement.

Subsidies for various categories of passengers play an important role in the operation of Riga's public transport: about 60% of passengers use them fully or partially. The revenue losses associated with these subsidies are compensated by the Riga municipality, as noted in the company's report.

In 2025, Rīgas satiksme provided transportation on 79 routes and three night routes, covering a total of 35.01 million km. Of this, 18.97 million km (54.2%) were by buses, 9.74 million km (27.8%) by trolleybuses, and 6.31 million km (18%) by trams.

At the end of last year, the company's fleet consisted of 739 vehicles, including 361 diesel buses, 224 trolleybuses, 95 tram units, and 52 electric buses.

In 2024, Rīgas satiksme transported a total of 115.97 million passengers.

As reported, the turnover of Rīgas satiksme last year, according to preliminary data, amounted to 53.622 million euros, which is 2.2% more than the previous year, and the company's profit increased several times to 10.474 million euros.
