The Tenth Consecutive Day (and Last) of Temperature Records in Latvia

On Monday, at least three records for maximum air temperature for March 16 were broken in the eastern part of the country, where the sun is shining today, according to data from the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center (LCSGM).

Temperature records in Latvia are being set for the tenth and possibly last consecutive day.

Since the beginning of March, temperature records have been recorded for 12 days, with a total of 116 records broken. Another six heat records were set on February 28.

The heat record on Monday was broken in Alūksne, Gulbene, and Madona, where the maximum temperature by 3:00 PM reached +12, +12.7, and +13.3 degrees Celsius, respectively.

At 3:00 PM, the air temperature in the LCSGM observation network ranged from +2.1 degrees in Daugavgrīva and Mērsrags to +12.9 degrees in Jēkabpils.

The national record for March 16 was set in 2015 in Zvejniekciems and was +14.1 degrees Celsius.
