On Saturday, sunny and windy weather will persist in Latvia, with new temperature records expected.
According to meteorologists' forecasts, there will be a light to moderate southern and southeast wind at night, with minimum air temperatures ranging from 0 degrees in some areas of the east of the country to +6 degrees in Kurzeme.
During the day, wind gusts will increase to 11-16 meters per second, and air temperatures will rise to +12...+17 degrees.
According to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre, the temperature record for March 14 in Latvia is +13.6 degrees - this temperature was recorded on this day in 1972 in Riga.
In the capital, gusts of southern and southeast winds are expected to reach up to 14 meters per second on Saturday. Nighttime air temperatures will drop to +5 degrees, while in the afternoon, thermometers in the shade will rise to +15 degrees.
