On Tuesday, light snow is expected in some areas of Latvia — mainly in the northwestern part of the country — forecasters predict, reports LETA.

The sky will be overcast, with some areas clearing up. Frost will persist in certain regions. A weak southern wind will blow.

The air temperature in most parts of the country will rise to -5 to -10 degrees.

In Riga, no significant precipitation is expected, a weak southern wind will blow, and the air temperature will rise to -9 degrees.

Atmospheric pressure is decreasing, and in the morning it is 1010–1015 hectopascals at sea level.

Air temperature in Latvia from -6 to -29 degrees

On Tuesday at 5 AM, the air temperature in the country ranged from -6.4 degrees in Kolka and -8.4 degrees in Ventspils to -24.7 degrees in Madona and -29 degrees at the meteorological station in Daugavpils, according to data from the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre (LEGMC), reports LETA.

The meteorological station in Daugavpils is located in the eastern part of the city, near the Rugeli reservoir; in other areas of the city and its surroundings, the air is on average warmer, with temperatures in some places ten degrees higher.

According to information from the company "Latvijas Valsts ceļi", the lowest air temperature by five in the morning was -25 to -27 degrees in some areas of Latgale, as well as in the vicinity of Dobele, Pļaviņas, and Gulbene.

According to the Cabinet of Ministers' regulations, children under the age of 12 may not attend educational institutions if the air temperature drops below -20 degrees, while students aged 13 and older may not attend if the temperature reaches at least -25 degrees.

In the western part of the country, the sky is overcast, and the cloud cover is spreading to the central part of Latvia. Light snow, fog, and frost are observed in some areas.

A weak southern wind is blowing. The air quality is mostly average.

In Riga, early in the morning, clear skies prevailed, but clouds from the west are covering it, with a southern wind blowing at a speed of 2–4 meters per second. At 5 AM, the air temperature was -17 degrees in the city center and -20 degrees at the airport.

The maximum air temperature on Monday, according to the LEGMC observation network, ranged from -4.1 degrees in Kolka to -17.2 degrees in Dobele.

The highest air temperature in Europe on February 9 was +22 to +24 degrees in the southeast of Spain and Cyprus. The lowest temperature overnight into Tuesday was -30 degrees in northern Finland and Russia.
