Starting June 1, the new transport hub 'Ķengarags' will open in Riga, to which several public transport routes will be extended. Passengers can expect new final stops, schedule changes, and additional tram trips.
In Riga, with the launch of the mobile point 'Ķengarags' and the completion of the tram line extension, starting June 1, the routes of trams No. 7 and No. 14, trolleybus No. 15, and bus No. 49 will operate to the new mobile point from the first trip. At the same time, the schedules and departure times from the final stops have been adjusted for several routes, including trams No. 1 and No. 11.
Changes to tram routes starting June 1:
• Tram No. 7 will operate from Ausekļa Street to the new final stop 'Ķengarags'. After the stop 'Eglaines iela / Dole', the tram will continue along Latgales Street to the new final point, and in the direction of the center, the route will also follow the same path. With the extension of the route, the number of trips will also increase.
• Tram No. 14 will also be extended to the final stop 'Ķengarags'. Trams from Ilguciems will continue along Latgales Street to the new final point after the stop 'Eglaines iela / Dole'. The number of trips on route No. 14 will remain unchanged.
On the new section in both directions, tram stops 'Rasas iela', 'Ikšķiles iela', and 'Mobilitātes punkts Ķengarags' have been created.
Trolleybus No. 15 will further operate to the final stop 'Ķengarags'. After the stop 'Višķu iela', the trolleybuses will continue along Višķu Street to the new final point and back. The number of trips will not change, however, the departure times from the final stop will be clarified for certain trips.
There will also be changes to bus route No. 49 — buses will no longer operate to the current final stop on Višķu Street, but will proceed to the new final point 'Ķengarags' at the intersection of Latgales and Višķu Streets. The number of trips will not change, but some trips will have adjusted departure times from the final stop.
Due to these changes, the bus stop No. 49 'Višķu iela', located in front of the previous final point, will be closed, and buses will no longer stop at 'Višķu iela 3'.
To maintain coordinated departure times on common sections of the routes, minor changes will also be made to the schedules of trams No. 1 and No. 11.
Residents are urged to familiarize themselves with the new schedules that will take effect on June 1: • Tram No. 7 on weekdays and weekends; • Tram No. 14 on weekdays and weekends; • Trolleybus No. 15 on weekdays and weekends; • Bus No. 49 on weekdays; • Tram No. 1 on weekdays and weekends; • Tram No. 11 on weekdays and weekends.
The total length of the tram route No. 7 extension is 2.2 kilometers. As part of the project, a mobile point, a new dispatch building, and necessary access roads for public transport from Latgales and Višķu Streets have been constructed at the intersection of these streets. Landscaping work has been carried out on the site — spacious canopies, information boards, greenery, and street lighting have been installed. Additionally, the route of trolleybus No. 15 has been extended by 300 meters along Višķu Street to the new mobile point.
Tas brīdis tuvojas, un viens ļoti liels projekts drīz būs noslēdzies. No 1. jūnija 7. un 14. maršruta tramvaji kursēs pa jaunizbūvētu sliežu ceļa posmu Latgales ielā 2,2 kilometru garumā. Tramvaji brauks līdz mobilitātes punktam "Ķengarags", kur tie savienosies ar 15. maršruta… pic.twitter.com/MTpmtDkwBc
