On Thursday, the weather in Latvia will remain changeable: rain will fall in many areas, and thunderstorms are possible in the eastern part of the country. Meanwhile, in certain regions, temperatures will rise above +20 degrees.
On Thursday, most of Latvia will again be covered by rain. According to meteorologists' forecasts, the most intense precipitation is expected in the eastern part of the country, where thunderstorms may occur in some areas.
Despite the rainy weather, air temperatures in certain regions will remain quite high for the second half of May. The warmest weather will be in the central part of Kurzeme and in the far east of Latvia, where temperatures will rise to +20…+23 degrees.
A completely different situation is expected by the sea. Along the coast, temperatures will not exceed +12 degrees in some places, and fog is possible in certain areas.
More sunny weather is forecasted in Kurzeme and eastern Latgale, while in other parts of the country, there will be more clouds and precipitation.
The wind will remain weak, predominantly from the north, so a sharp feeling of cold is not expected.
In Riga, rain is also possible during the day. The air will warm up to about +16 degrees, while it will be cooler and foggier by the sea.
Importantly, in the coming days, Latvia will experience typical late spring contrasting weather—while one part of the country may have downpours, another may have sunshine and almost summer warmth.
Meteorologists note that the current weather conditions are being formed under the influence of an area of high atmospheric pressure and an atmospheric front.
Against the backdrop of warm air and increased humidity, local thunderstorms in the eastern regions may develop quite rapidly.
