Frosts will reach minus 25 degrees in several places in Latvia.
On the night of Wednesday, the air temperature in some areas of Latvia - mainly in Latgale and Vidzeme - is expected to drop to -25…-29 degrees, forecasters predict.
In some regions, fog and hoarfrost are expected, which will persist during the day in the northeast. No significant precipitation is anticipated on Wednesday, and most of the country will be sunny. The wind will be weak from the east, moderate in Kurzeme.
The minimum air temperature at night is expected to range from -10 degrees in some areas on the northern coast of Kurzeme to -29 in the east of the country, while the maximum temperature during the day will be from -6 to -15 degrees, respectively.
In Riga, it will be sunny on Wednesday with no precipitation. The wind will be weak from the east. The air temperature at night will drop to -17 degrees, and in some suburban areas, it will reach -23 degrees. During the day, thermometers in the shade will rise to -9 degrees.
According to the Cabinet of Ministers' regulations, children under 12 years old are not required to attend educational institutions if the air temperature is below -20 degrees, while students aged 13 and older may not go to school if the temperature drops to -25 degrees.
