Latvijas pasts intends to invest around €1.3 million in updating its fleet by purchasing 40 new vehicles.
The company plans to acquire 28 cargo vans, nine electric cargo vans, and three cargo trucks.
To implement the project, the enterprise has announced three open tenders for procurement. As noted by the Chairman of the Board of Latvijas pasts, Girts Rudzitis, the company has one of the largest courier services in the country — just last year, the company's couriers covered over 5.5 million kilometers, ensuring the delivery of parcels and servicing customer centers and parcel lockers.
According to the company's management, updating the fleet "will enhance employee safety, improve operational efficiency, and continue the transition to more environmentally friendly transport." Previously, postal workers had already begun using modern hybrid and electric vehicles, and in 2025, the courier fleet was supplemented with 21 new vehicles.
The new vehicles will have increased requirements for safety and comfort. The transport must be equipped with parking sensors, emergency braking systems, rearview cameras, and other modern driver assistance systems.
It is expected that the new vehicles will be available to the enterprise by the end of 2026.
