Employees of the Latvian Museum of Occupation face emotional attacks daily, including from people calling the museum, said the museum director Solvita Viba in an interview for the program "900 Seconds" (TV3), according to LETA.
She explained that the museum faces provocations of various levels. At the same time, Viba noted that the overall number of provocations is decreasing.
Viba reminded that last year, reports were filed with the police regarding broken windows in the "Corner House," as well as regarding provocations in phone calls, and the identities of the provocateurs are known.
The museum director also mentioned that there are people who, upon entering the museum, seek to demonstrate their political bravado. For example, recently one visitor attempted to pay with Russian rubles.
Viba emphasized that the institution employs strong-willed individuals who are prepared for such situations.
She also reported that an appellate hearing is expected in the case of the arson of the Museum of Occupation; however, the court date has not yet been set.
LETA has already reported that in March of last year, the Riga City Court found all three defendants in the criminal case of the arson of the Museum of Occupation guilty and sentenced them to several years in prison. The accused in the case are Konstantin Engels, Vitaly Lukyanovich, and Valentin Razmeritsa.
