The Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD) has announced a tender for construction work to update the surface of the rallycross track at the Bikernieki sports base, according to information in the Electronic Procurement System (EIS), LETA reports.

The technical specifications of the tender indicate that the existing surface of the rallycross track requires repairs before the scheduled round of the European Rallycross Championship of the International Automobile Federation (FIA) to ensure the quality and safety of the event.

It is planned to repair the surface over an area of 2,738 square meters.

The construction work is expected to be completed within one month.

Applications to participate in the tender can be submitted until January 30.

As previously reported, Latvia will host rounds of the FIA European Rallycross and Autocross Championships in 2026.

According to the published FIA calendar for the European Rallycross Championship, the 2026 season will start on May 9 and 10 with a round at the Bikernieki track, which, with a length of 1.295 kilometers, is one of the longest rallycross tracks in Europe.

CSDD is a state-owned joint-stock company. The directorate is responsible for vehicle registration in Latvia, issuing driver's licenses, conducting vehicle inspections, and providing other services. The owner of the capital shares of the directorate is the Ministry of Transport.
