Due to the accumulation of slush in the Gauja River, flooding of low-lying areas is possible, informs the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre (LEGMC), writes LETA.
Meteorologists report that the intense melting of slush and rising water levels continue in the lower reaches of the Gauja.
A yellow warning has been issued for possible flooding of low-lying areas. It will remain in effect until Monday.
As previously reported, ice formation and slush movement continue in the rivers of Latvia. During the ice formation period, water levels in certain sections of the rivers will fluctuate sharply.
