So, less than two days separate us from the year 2026. As usual, a number of decisions made in the outgoing year will come into effect on January 1st.
Starting in January, the minimum wage will again increase (to 780 euros) and the tax-exempt minimum will rise (to 550 euros).
The childbirth allowance will amount to 600 euros, and the child allowance for the first 1.5 years of life will reach 298 euros.
There will no longer be a need to pay 75 cents for pharmacist services if the cost of the medicine does not exceed 10 euros.
From July 1st, a reduced VAT rate of 12% will be introduced for bread, milk, eggs, and chicken meat.
This is where the pleasant gifts from the government end.
And what about the negative aspects? Excise taxes on fuel, heating materials, and strong alcohol will increase, as well as the tax on natural resources. A 21% VAT rate will be introduced for press and books in the Russian language.
For urgent passport or ID card issuance, a fee of 75 euros will be required, while the standard issuance will cost 50 euros.
Starting January 1st, entry to Jurmala will cost 5 euros.
